GUILFORD RUBY BUSICK BROWN BROWNS SUMMIT Mrs. Ruby Busick Brown, 87, of 5840 Osceola-Ossipee Road, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Apple's Chapel Christian Church, with the Rev.

C. Allen Myers III, pastor of the church, the Rev. Lester Stanley, pastor of visitation, and the Rev. James Steele, pastor of Boones Mill Baptist Church, Boones Mill, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Lillie Belle Chrismon Busick. She was a homemaker and a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church and Browns Summit Sunshine Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Jack Brown. Survivors are her four sons, Allen M. Brown of Boiling Springs, Albert G.

Brown and wife, Geraldine of Gibsonville, Bobby Brown and wife, Linda of Browns Summit and Randy Brown and wife, Lucinda of Browns Summit; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Margie) Rumley of Browns Summit, Mrs. Shirley B. Jones of Greensboro, Mrs. James (Peggy) Steele of Boones Mill, and Mrs.

Elmer (Pat) French of Ruffin; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Andrews of McLeansville, Mrs. Ann Oliver of Gibsonville and Mrs. Virginia Smithey of Browns Summit; three brothers, Deuel Busick of Whitsett, Leo Busick of Browns Summit and Marvis Busick of Browns Summit; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great Mrs. Brown will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. She was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Orangeburg, S.C., the daughter of the late Richmond Sweeper and the late Emily Sweeper. Evelyn was employed with Lorillard Corporation until her health declined. She was an avid bowler with several bowling leagues in Greensboro.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her beloved husband of 36 years, John Newman Sr. of the home; son, John Newman Jr. (Lesley Elliott); daughter, Shirley Baldwin (Levander) of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Haley, Hunter, Evander, John III and Terrell; two brothers, John Sweeper (Virginia) of Greensboro, Albert Sweeper of Philadelphia, two sisters, Victoria Washington (Nathaniel) of Washington, D.C., and Clarabell Gilliard of Baltimore, five grandchildren; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 13, 1916, to the late Henry Oliver and Alma Palmer Nichols. He had resided in Greensboro for the past 51 years and was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church. Mr. Nichols was a retired engineer with and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S.

Army. Mr. Nichols served with the 38th Army engineering regiment and took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Survivors include his daughter, Marion Nichols Jester; and two grandchildren, Nathan Jester and Paisley Jester, all of Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

JUSTIN GIBSON MERRITT KING Justin Gibson Merritt, 17, of Whispering Creek Road, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Jefferson Church of Christ, Rural Hall, with Jerry Simpkins and Steve Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Justin was born in Forsyth County, May 18, 1982, the loving son of Garry and Bek Merritt.

He was a member of Jefferson Church of Christ, Rural Hall. Justin loved the outdoors, with a special interest in hunting and fishing. He was a gifted mechanic and had a special compassion for the elderly and under privileged children. Surviving are his parents, Garry and Bek Merritt of the home; sister, Paula Anne Merritt of Winston-Salem; brothers, Palmer West Merritt and Thomas Montgomery Merritt, both of the home; maternal grandparents, and Alice Rose Gibson of Lumberton; paternal grandparents, Myrtle and Richard Shore of Rural Hall; and a number of special aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Just was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Merritt.
